First week was awesome

First week of medical school was amazing. I learned about biochemistry, cell biology and genetics. Today I got to work with a standardized patient in clinic where I learned how to measure blood pressure and to do a head, eyes, ears, and neck exam. Tonight I am going to relax and have some fun at a toga party before I go back to crackin' the books.

So busy

This is my last week on the job before I start packing/go on vacation/move to Oklahoma City. Things have been quite busy with finding living arrangements, helping my boyfriend apply to jobs in OKC, and all the little things in between. Very excited though that orientation starts in less than a month from now!

Kudos to Family

I am so grateful to have such a supportive family. My mother drove to Oklahoma City yesterday to look at different apartments near campus. Hopefully with her comments and pictures of each place, I can select a suitable apartment to live this fall.

Basic Life Support certification

OU let me know a few days ago that I have to get Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers by the start of matriculation. I am currently working on the online portion, followed later by an in-person training day.

More Happy News

Much to my delight, my boyfriend has decided to move to Oklahoma City so we can remain together. We haven't worked out all the details, but I am now helping him find a job in OKC.

University of Oklahoma College of Medicine

I was accepted off the waitlist at University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Hurray!
My orientation runs August 16-20 and classes begin August 23rd. My white coat ceremony is August 19th at 7 p.m. (location TBA)

Right now I am in the long process of completing paperwork for OU, searching for an apartment, and planning a vacation for early August.
